Valentine’s Wreath Workshop
One of our attendee’s Wreaths!
Hey Flower Friends!
What a wonderfully creative group of enthusiastic, patient, and fun individuals we had for our Wreath Making Workshop on Saturday at The Publishing House in Kutztown.
We pre-sold tickets to our Valentine’s Heart workshop and ended up with our group, which was a perfect start as this was our first workshop!
While we’ve successfully hosted DIY flower Bars and some other enjoyable events, nothing like this had happened before. Both Erin and I felt comfortable and genuinely excited about the experience. We held the workshop in the “Map” room of The Publishing House, it started at 2:30 pm and lasted until 4 pm.
Each participant was given a wreath, clippers, wire, a hot glue gun, some of our dried peonies, celosia, eucalyptus, lavender, and more floral options.
Erin started the workshop, explaining some of the essential practices at The No Name Farm and how she has gone about harvesting, cutting, and drying these flowers. We talked about our organic practices at the farm, including how we steward a thriving bird community to help with any pests, as well as starting in the soil to maintain healthy plants as part of our natural pest deterrents.
Erin went on to discuss how much more thoughtful we could be about our cut flower buying practices and how, locally, even there are challenges with sales from roadside flower farms that sell at a much lower price than other farmers. Also, how the majority of the flowers you see in grocery stores, and even at events are shipped from overseas. Looking into how the workers are paid, or even the environmental impact it takes can help alter your relationship with cut flowers.
She also talked about how drying flowers is for everyone and how you can dry your flowers even with minimal space.
At the end of the class, we also told attendees about future activities, Pick Your Own Flower events, Bouquet Workshops, and more come this growing season! Keep your eyes peeled on our Instagram and be sure to sign up for emails!
Thank you for everyone’s interest, to the attendees and to The Publishing House for hosting the event.
Here our group is assembling their bunches to install on their wreaths.
